Our Visit to Hillwood Museum

One of the many things we love about our job is traveling! Traveling for us, is so inspiring and helps us design and mold our collections as we create them. We especially love when we are able to visit our customers!

Recently, we visited the Hillwood Museum in Washington DC. The mansion is styled in 18th century french decor and features 13 acres of beautiful gardens!

Our favorite area was the French Parterre; it was a quiet, secluded area surrounded by ivy covered walls centered with a fountain and beautifully cut greens.

What are some of your favorite places to visit? We'd love to check them out!

Volunteer Tea at the Newark Museum

Yesterday we attended the Volunteer Tea Party at the Newark Museum! If you're not familiar, the museum is the largest in the state of New Jersey and houses hundreds of beautiful pieces of art! If you're in the area we totally recommend visiting!
We spent the afternoon mingling with guests and vendors, enjoyed a delicious lunch, and showcased our statement jewelry of course!

We were honored to be a part of this event and hope to be back next year! Thank you Newark Museum for having us!

Beauty In Grey

We recently collaborated with Carol from Evolving Your Image to style one of our signature statement necklaces. She picked this three layer Beauty In Grey shell necklace as her choice to style. Can we say she absolutely looks beautiful, and did an amazing job!

From Carol "I chose to wear this very lightweight and comfortable necklace as the feature signature piece for my entire outfit. The neutrality of the necklace gives it versatility allowing you to dress it up or wear it casually. A statement necklace is often a large or bold piece of jewelry that takes center stage of your outfit."

Shop her look -- Vince Camuto Top (similar) :: Melissa McCarthy Skirt (similar) :: Belt :: Nine West Sandals  :: Necklace

Head on over to her site http://evolvingyourimage.com - her blog posts are great and will give you awesome ideas on new outfits. Also you can work personally with Carol to help you evolve your personal image.

Have You Met Our Woman Crush Wednesday?

Meet Ellen! Owner of Victorian Inspirations in Portland Connecticut. She started this new and exciting venture in early 2015 after she semi-retired from being a Chief Financial Officer/Financial Analyst. As Ellen says “Having always wanted to open a small boutique or elegant gift shop, I decided that timing in life is everything and now was the time to reach for the stars to bring my vision to life.” Kudos to Ellen for reaching for her dreams. Here at Sylca we know how difficult it is to start your own business so we give lots of props to anyone who is strong enough to make the jump!! She is our Woman Crush Wednesday (WCW) not only because she is beautiful, but because of her confidence and dedication to make her dream a reality! (we send you a BIG High-Five Ellen)

Victorian Inspirations and Sylca Designs

If you live in Portland CT or happen to be there stop by her store and see all of the fun goodies! The shop is not necessarily related to Victorian gifts or traditions but it refers to the style, elegance and class of a bygone era. With the holidays right around the corner boutique shopping is the way to go as you can find unique and exciting products!

If you can’t make it to her shop – stop by her facebook page and show her some love!

Chic In Chautauqua

It is such a thrill for us to be working with yet another amazing mother-daughter team! The ladies from Pat’s at Chautauqua are just fabulous.

The store started in 1988 by Patricia, a stay at home mom of 5. She began by making everything in store by hand and gradually started offering unique lines of clothing, jewelry, accessories, shoes, and art work. Her daughter Katherine now works with her, and just like us, they have a blast doing what they love.
