What is Kiva?
Kiva Microfunds (commonly known by its domain name, Kiva.Org) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization[2] that allows people to lend money via the Internet to low-income entrepreneurs and students in over 80 countries. Kiva's mission is “to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.”
How are we helping?
Sylca Designs is making a contribution by donating a portion of online sales to the Kiva organization. We are true believers in the quote "Give a man a fish and you've fed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you've fed him for a lifetime." We believe in giving back to women in the Philippines because this is where our jewelry is made. We are very happy to be able to give back to the women in The Philippines by helping them succeed in their entrepreneurial ventures. Helping Children In Need
In addition to donating part of our proceeds to Kiva, we also love to help Children in need. One of the organizations we work with is STUDENT OF THE LIGHT foundation, which serves displaced children from the civil war in Colombia.
